I started baking today. Never really been a kitchen type of person. I don't particularly like cooking or baking usually. But I found a breadmaker my brother had bought me years ago. It still worked and I had ingredients so I made some bread. I chose the wrong setting so it's a bit more dense than I wanted it to be but, it still turned out well. I will try a couple other recipes in the book before I start experimenting. Next up is potato bread for my significant other who's obsessed with it.

I also made apple crisp from a recipe I got from a coworker years ago. As with most recipes from people who cook by heart, there's a lot of missing information. I did the best I could to remember the one time I made it with her at work. I got a little too much wet to dry ratio but it still turned out tasting really good. I also got a little heavy handed with the cinnamon and put it on at the wrong time so it looked a little burnt at the end but, it was just cinnamon spread out really strange.

I had mentioned someone I cared about being in the ICU on my last post. He's made a full and great recovery. Still no idea what happened but, he's alive and well now! This weekend I get to hang out with a friend I met on BuddyPic waaaaay back circa like 2003/2004. Not just before Facebook but before Myspace! That's wild. Wow that makes me feel old. I still keep up with several people I met back in the old internet days. That friend, one I met because he was hopping into AIM chat rooms and trolling people and I had never encountered a troll before (like I said this was years ago) so I followed him and talked to him and he turned out to be my exact age, we hit it off and we're still best friends to this day. And another I also met in an AIM chat room but, not because he was trolling.

I've met all those people in person and probably a few more I'm forgetting about. Man what the internet used to be like. The wild wild west. I feel like I've been going down an internet nostalgia rabbit hole lately. Everyone on Lemmy and the fediverse talking about how it feels almost like the old school internet. Learning about NeoCities here and feeling like I'm back on Geocities. Learning to use HTML and CSS again. Then one of my favorite web comics that I started following in 2004 or 2005 did a few days of flashback comments where the artist talked about how much has changed since he wrote some of them. (Questionable Content if anyone was curious)

Life is just lifing on all the time. It never stops. sometimes it's nice to take a look back and see how far we've come and the things we've learned. Welp, that's all from me.
